Nursing

I am an independent scholar and writer about nursing in the UK

In April 2023 I left my last job as Professor of Nursing Policy at Middlesex University, London, UK

I was one of the founders of the Centre for Critical Research in Nursing & Midwifery in the School of Health and Education. The research I have done has tended to be around policy issues and on professional identity in nursing and medicine and among healthcare support workers.

I'm also interested in discourse analysis and recently in Lacanian psychoanalysis. My most highly cited paper is about the development of a measure of job satisfaction - which you can get from here: http://mdx.academia.edu/MichaelTraynor. But don't ask me anything about it as I have not done that kind of work since 1991.
